I've not been able to access the internet from home in weeks. It's incredible how much of my life is tied to the net. I've been able to check my emails intermittently, but unable to reply. It was like losing your voice. It's quite dramatic. I couldn't do this...well, not from home. I couldn't find any information out about random 'stuff' I chose. Couldn't download maps, couldn't check the weather forecast, of which I am a bit obsessive - it was so strange.
Anyway - it's all mended now thanks to Al (great friend) who is a bit of a genius at this kinda thing and despite having an over-flowing plate of 'things to do' not to mention a baby who is days from being born - he got me back on line.
He's one of those people that you come across in life (of which I am very fortunate to have found quite a few, particularly recenty), who you know if you fall, they would catch you. It's a two way thing - I would catch them too.
So this blog is dedicated to friends - they are very precious!

Your friend Al sounds like just the kind of friend we all need. It is encouraging to read that Al took time out to help you.

I hate being without my computer, as it's the only contact I have with the world most of the time. Glad you're back online.
Beware - you'll be moving onto a mobile phone next that will allow you to check your email wherever you are on the planet.
Not that I'd know much about these things, despite sitting in Buxton reading my emails at the weekend on my mobile phone ;-)
We are awash here at Radioman HQ with computers - ten at last count with one nice funky looking Apple iMac for sale.
All have a purpose though and are not just part of a collection. Any that don't have a purpose move on.
Being away from your computer is great - it's just the spam in your Inbox that you return to is bad.

Emma, I didn't realise you were a blogger as well. I know what it's like to be without the internet as I am currently out of action with my computer. Thankfully I can use the computers here while I,m waiting to get mine fixed.
Thanks again for all the help you've given me, in getting my nephew's art online.
